HONORING ALUMNI AND STUDENTS
Each year, the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing and its Alumni Society Board honor alumni and students.
Nominations are reviewed by the Nursing Alumni Society Awards Committee. Committee members score each nomination for evidence of the award criteria. The highest-scoring nomination receives the award. Decisions regarding scoring ties are made by the Nursing Alumni Society Awards Committee.

ALUMNI AWARDS
The following awards recognize alumni who have achieved notable professional success and brought acclaim to the college, its students, and the University.

Paula Milone-Nuzzo Nursing Alumni Volunteer of the Year Award
This award, established in 2018, is to be presented annually by the Penn State Nursing Alumni Society to an alumnus/alumna who has provided outstanding volunteer service to the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing.
Emerging Professional Award
The Emerging Professional Award recognizes a Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing graduate with less than 10 years as a registered nurse working in a clinical or academic setting who demonstrates potential to significantly impact the nursing profession. This award recognizes nurses who demonstrate exemplary professional practice and community engagement/advocacy on behalf of the nursing profession and the communities of interest.
Alumni Achievement Award
The Alumni Achievement Award recognizes a Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing graduate actively working in the healthcare field who has impacted the healthcare industry in a profound way, who supports a model of professional practice in their organization through leadership, innovation, strong mentorship, and overall practice. You may include examples of how they overcame adversity, improved care, and increased resources to treatment or prevention while demonstrating Penn State’s values.

Undergraduate Student Service Award
The undergraduate student nurse supports the ideals of the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing and the nursing profession by engaging in service activities that support individuals, families, and/or communities and that encourage and foster the nurse’s personal and professional development.
Graduate Student Service Award
The graduate student nurse supports the ideals of the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing and the nursing profession by engaging in service activities that support individuals, families, and/or communities and that encourage and foster the nurse’s personal and professional development.
Doctoral Nursing Student Academic Excellence Award
The doctoral student nurse supports the ideals of the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing and the nursing profession by engaging in service activities that support individuals, families, and/or communities and that encourage and foster the nurse’s personal and professional development with a demonstrated need for funding in an academic endeavor.
