Looking to offer Nursing contact hours and/or Pharmacotherapeutic contact hours for an educational activity?
Application Packets must be submitted 45 days prior to all educational activities.
Overview
- Review the Guide.
- Submit your Application Packet at least 45 days prior to your activity. This time is necessary for the activity review, feedback, and editing process. If you are submitting an Application Packet within 45 days of your activity, you MUST request expedited processing BEFORE submission. We have the right to refuse any expedited requests.
- If approved, you will receive an activity Approval Letter listing any associated fees. Activities are typically approved for two years.
- Review the Guide’s “Post-Event Checklist” to become familiar with activity data that will need to be collected before, during, and after your activity.
- Run your activity!
- Within 14 days of your activity, submit your Post-Event Packet for review. Certificates will be generated and distributed within one month of receiving the packet. If the activity has associated fees, an invoice will be generated. Certificates will be generated after the full invoice payment is received.
- To run repeat-approved activities, review the Guide’s “Repeat-Activity Checklist”.

Activity Costs
Annual Administrative Fee: $250
- For all groups submitting one or more activities for approval. This fee covers activity assistance, packet review, finance processing, certificate generation, and Approved Provider Unit PSNA compliance requirements.
Contact Hour Rate: $20 per 1.0 contact hour per RN/APRN
- Contact hour certificates can ONLY be generated for RNs and APRNs meeting all the approved Activity Planning Form requirements. Non-RN learners will NOT receive a contact hour certificate and, therefore, will NOT be charged the contact hour fees unless otherwise discussed.
Other Penn State offices, departments, and colleges are encouraged to email NurseCE@psu.edu about fees before submitting an Application Packet.
Grant Funding: We highly encourage internal Penn State groups applying for grant funding to include the administrative fee and contact hour rates in any budget proposals, basing the contact hour fee total on an estimated number of RNs/APRNs who will request contact hours for your activity.
