February 13, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Aarthi Madhavan, PHD, CCC-SLP, Assistant Professor, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders

Speaker Bio:

Dr. Madhavan’s research interests lie in attempting to mitigate the negative health consequences of dysphagia (swallowing disorders) in older adults. This research involves close collaborations with clinicians and researchers in the fields of aging, nutrition, cognition, neuromotor abilities, and questionnaire and tool development.

Presentation description:

The presentation will describe dysphagia in older adults and present a novel framework for how we need to look at dysphagia in ‘healthy’ community dwelling older adults. Current and future research directions in this area will be presented
