Ali and Holly are graduates of the Pennsylvania State University Occupational Therapy Assistant program and are certified, licensed, and currently working with the older adult population in nursing homes and hospitals. Through clinicals and work experience with the elderly in the last 4 years, Ali and Holly have seen that depression and loneliness is overwhelmingly prevalent, causing loss of independence, decreased motivation, and social withdrawal. As a result, they set out to decrease sadness and loneliness within the older adult population with gift boxes that contain useful products for all seniors. The Purpose boxes have shown to inspire a more positive mindset, encourage independence, and reinforce meaningful connections between family members. Ali and Holly are also the grand prize winners of the 2019 Pennsylvania Technical Assistance Program (PennTAP) Inc.U Competition, an annual “Shark Tank”-style competition, which aired on WPSU-TV’s “The Investment.”
