Collaborative Seminar Series presents “EMR Delirium Identification: CUIs and TUIs and AUIs – Oh My!”

November 7, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Dr. Oosterhouse is an assistant professor in the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing at Loyola University Chicago. Her expertise includes adult critical care nursing, nursing education, and older adult nursing care. As a result of clinical and personal family member experiences with delirium, Dr. Oosterhouse chose her plan of research to focus on delirium in older adults: awareness, early identification, prevention, and management to improve outcomes. She is the Chair of the Midwest Nursing Research Society’s (MNRS) Gerontological Nursing Science Research Interest Group, and serves on the Education Committee of the National Hartford Center for Geriatric Nursing Excellence.

This presentation will focus on the incidence and prevalence of delirium in hospitalized older adults.  Following the presentation, attendees will be able to identify barriers to older adult delirium assessment in acute care, list types of Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and register for Unified Medical Language System Metathesaurus (UMLS) access.
