Jacquelyn Ryer

Ryer is an Assistant Professor and the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) Program Coordinator at the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing at The Pennsylvania State University. With over a decade of experience in critical care and advanced practice nursing, she  brings a deep clinical foundation to her academic role, grounded in years of neuro critical care practice at leading academic medical centers including Penn State Hershey Medical Center and the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Ryer’s clinical expertise centers on the management of critically ill neurological and neurosurgical patients, with advanced training in emergency neurological life support and trauma care. Her dedication to excellence in care is reflected in her leadership on interdisciplinary teams and her role in organizing the annual Neuro Critical Care Conference at Penn State Health.

In the academic setting, Ryer has extensive experience developing and teaching core courses across AGACNP and DNP curricula. She has led innovative simulation experiences and course development initiatives aimed at enhancing diagnostic and management skills in acute care settings. A passionate educator and mentor, Ryer is actively involved in initiatives that support student success, including her recent scholarship and national presentations focused on peer support models in graduate nursing education
