Farrell’s professional work centers around nursing education. During the past 40+ years, she has taught nursing in practical nursing schools, diploma schools, associate degree, baccalaureate degree and graduate education programs. She is passionate about psychiatric mental health care and encourage nurses to consider this area of practice. Every nurse can make a difference in the lives of others. She experiences this on a weekly basis in clinical practice. The clients she works with are diverse in terms of all of the social indicators of health, but each person is unique. She enjoys the challenge of helping clients find resources to improve the quality of their lives. Her areas of research include transition of care of adolescents into adult mental health care services, mental health services in rural areas, and intimate partner violence.
