Brown is the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education and a Teaching Professor in the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing. Her career has spanned 50 years with an early career focus in critical care and was in the first cohort that obtain certification in Critical Care Nursing. She and late husband were instrumental in forming the Pennsylvania Society of Critical Care Medicine with an annual award presented in their names. Brown is an AACN Fuld Leadership Fellow and has held several leadership positions in critical care and in the Nese CON. She has been a nurse educator for over 30 years and certified in Nursing Education since the certification’s inception. Brown was instrumental in the development of the Online RN to BSN program, the Accelerated RN to BSN program and the Second-degree BSN program and currently has administrative oversight of the undergraduate programs at twelve Penn State campuses and online. Brown has published and presented widely and obtained over 5 million dollars to support student scholarships and program development. Her professional involvement includes NLN, AACN, and the leadership positions in Beta Sigma Chapter, STTI. Brown has received the awards both in teaching and leadership.
