Nagy began her nursing career in Long-Term Care before transitioning to Oncology/MedSurg in 1995, and later found her passion in Women’s Health, working in Labor & Delivery, the Level II Nursery, GYN services, and the mother-baby unit. After earning her RN from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in 1994, she graduated from Penn State Shenango in 1999. Amy’s career in education began in 2002 at UPMC Horizon, where she developed and taught numerous courses, including Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, PALS, and Neonatal Resuscitation. She also coordinated the Student Nurse Internship Program, Nursing Orientation, and was involved in nurse recruitment.

In 2016, Nagy began teaching as an adjunct faculty at Penn State Shenango while pursuing her MSN and later completed her DNP in 2020, with a dissertation focused on work-life balance. Her research in work-life balance and wellness has become a cornerstone of her academic career, exploring strategies to reduce stress and promote well-being in both students and healthcare professionals. In 2024, Nagy transitioned to the role of Director for Undergraduate Nursing at Penn State Shenango, where she continues to lead, mentor students, and incorporate wellness and work-life balance into the curriculum, shaping the future of nursing education.
