Jochen has dedicated 20 years to nursing, with experience in Emergency Medicine and School Nursing before transitioning to academia. Her dissertation, which examined medical cannabis policy within K-12 settings, was published in the Journal of School Nursing in 2024. Currently, she is collaborating with fellow faculty members and the Center for Geriatric Nursing Excellence on the Teaching in the Nursing Home project. Along with fellow faculty members, Alison aspires to help integrate the Opening Minds through Art program into various disciplines to enhance the nursing home experience.
