Happy New Year from your Alumni Society Board!

If you have yet to be welcomed to the New Year, I will take this opportunity to do so! As 2025 sets off, I think back on what I was doing at the beginning of each New Year of my life. After I awoke from my nap, one memory popped back into my mind.
It was January 1988, and I was once again back at the Hershey Medical Center beginning my last semester as a BSN student. The holiday break provided time for me to say goodbye to my nursing student days at University Park as I spent all of 1987 on that campus. With my return to Hershey, I discovered I would be housed in the newly completed residence hall on the west end of the Medical Center. My roommates were one other nursing student and two medical students (all male, of course… we were, after all, still in the 80s), and we each had our own bedrooms off a living area with a full kitchen! Although the Penn State football team just lost to Clemson in the Citrus Bowl on January 1, it was just one year ago that they won their second national football championship! Yes, it was going to be a great final semester before graduation!
If you would like to share your New Year memory, please visit the College Alumni Society Facebook page where I started a post of new year Penn State memories. Best wishes to all for a happy and fulfilling 2025.
Sincerely,
‘Dr. Nurse Mark’
