The Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing seeks applicants for a full-time (thirty-six-week), one-year, non-tenure line appointment with full benefits, in the undergraduate program at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College to begin Fall 2024.

The Penn State Nese College of Nursing is one of the most comprehensive colleges of nursing in any public university in the country. With over 2,100 undergraduate students and approximately 200 graduate students, our footprint is world-wide with our faculty creating immeasurable experiences for our students around the globe.

Primary responsibilities will include logistical and technical coordination and accountability for a state-of-the-art simulation lab and simulation instruction across the curriculum, and coordination and instruction in nursing courses (geriatrics and adult-medical surgical are priorities) including both classroom and clinical teaching.

Candidates for the position will possess at a minimum a master’s degree in nursing and eligibility for RN licensure in Pennsylvania. Individuals with a master’s degree will be considered at the rank of instructor, and individuals with a doctoral degree (e.g., DNP, PhD) will be considered at the rank of assistant teaching professor. An earned Doctorate degree will be a condition of continued employment after the fifth year for a candidate hired as an instructor. Candidates with Certified Nurse Educator (CNE), Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) and clinical certification are preferred. Successful applicants should show evidence of professional growth, scholarship, and mastery of gerontology and medical-surgical subject matter; hold a valid nursing license; and be eligible for RN licensure in Pennsylvania. The Erie area has multiple opportunities available for collaborative research and scholarly activity through two local hospitals. Additionally, the college maintains a research partnership with the Magee Women’s Research Institute – Erie (MWRI-Erie).
