Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence

Advisory Council

The Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence at the Penn State College of Nursing strives to improve the lives of older adults in positive and person-centered ways (our vision), but we would not be able to accomplish as much without the important relationships we have developed and sustained over many years. As the fourth pillar of our strategic plan, sustainability and strategic partnerships are vital to our mission. The CGNE leadership team values the many collaborative relationships with community members and clinical partners that have contributed to the accomplishments we have made in education, research, and translation of best practice. We are fortunate to have colleagues and friends of our center locally, throughout the commonwealth of PA, nationally, and internationally.

One of our major goals for 2019 is to initiate a CGNE Advisory Council that would offer advice, feedback, and assistance to the Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence in the pursuit of our vision and mission, and the development and implementation of our strategic plan. The council shall be composed of accomplished experts, personally and/or professionally, who offer important and dynamic perspectives, innovative ideas and solutions, and useful assistance and resources. The council shall meet routinely and as indicated to provide strategic direction, guide quality improvement, and assess program effectiveness. The CGNE Advisory Council members shall be in partnership with the CGNE Leadership Team, its affiliated faculty and students, and the Penn State College of Nursing as large. In addition to advancing the mission of CGNE, members will be provided with opportunities to enhance their own quality of life and sense of satisfaction through their contributions and commitment to improve the overall well-being of older adults.

Members shall be a health care administrator, clinician, educator, scientist, leader, and/or community member that has a passion and commitment to our vision: to improve the lives of older adults in positive and person-centered ways. Serve as ambassadors for the vision and mission of our center. Members will be responsible to: 1) Serve as ambassadors for CGNE; 2) Engage and communicate with our center and its constituents; 3) Provide feedback and advisement on the strategic plan; 4) Provide representation of your professional affiliation on relevant topics; 5) Share information and expertise; 6) Provide guidance and insights related to research opportunities; 7) Advocate and assist with fund raising to promote sustainability, as possible; 8) Advocate for public policy to support our vision.
