Julie Ross, a second-year Ph.D. student, has been named a 2017 Scholar in the Penn State Center for Health Organization Transformation (CHOT). CHOT aims to advance transformation in health systems through applied interdisciplinary research.
CHOT Scholars are graduate and postgraduate students with an interest in health care delivery. They are selected by a faculty panel after being nominated by advisers in their respective disciplines. “Julie was chosen to represent the College of Nursing because of her ability to work well within interdisciplinary teams, and because her interests fit well with CHOT’s mission,” said Judy Hupcey, associate dean for graduate education and research.
Scholars work with faculty advisers on research themes and projects that focus on improving health care delivery and quality using tools that exist across various disciplines. The students become active participants in the work of the center and present their projects at an annual workshop. Projects may form a key component of the student’s master’s thesis or doctoral dissertation.
