Windy Alonso, a student in the Ph.D. program, has received a predoctoral fellowship from the National Institute of Nursing Research for a two-year study of rural heart failure patients using geocoding. “Identifying Disparities: Rural–Urban Comparison in Mechanical Circulatory Support” aims to eventually develop tailored nursing interventions to reduce or eliminate disparities in the rural population of patients using ventricular assist devices to support cardiac function.
